Description
The ElektroPhysik PoroTest 7 is a portable high-voltage holiday detector designed for the non-destructive detection of pores, cracks, and discontinuities in insulating coatings applied to conductive substrates. Operating with electronically stabilized DC test voltages ranging from 0.5 kV up to 35 kV (depending on model P7, P30, or P35), the instrument ensures precise voltage control with an accuracy of ±0.1 kV + 3% of reading. This prevents both overvoltage damage to coatings and undervoltage conditions that could lead to missed defects. Suitable for coating thicknesses from 30 µm up to 11.3 mm, the PoroTest 7 is ideal for inspecting tanks, pipelines, ship hulls, sewage facilities, and other corrosion-protected structures in demanding industrial environments.
Designed for field use, the compact system consists of a control unit and high-voltage probe, powered either by rechargeable NiMH batteries or mains supply with automatic voltage switching (115–230 V). It features a clear 3-digit LC display, audible and visual alarms (90 dB), and potential-free signal output for external monitoring. The device complies with DIN 55670 and meets electrical safety requirements according to VDE 0411, Part 1. With multilingual user guidance and a wide range of interchangeable or custom-made electrodes, the PoroTest 7 provides a reliable, safe, and versatile solution for critical coating inspection applications in petrochemical, marine, and infrastructure industries.
