Description
The HI96831 measures the refractive index of ethylene glycol solutions and converts it into percent volume or freezing point using internationally accepted standards, such as the CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics. Proper glycol concentration is critical in industrial cooling systems: too little glycol risks freezing and system damage, while excessive glycol reduces efficiency. The meter’s automatic temperature compensation ensures accurate results regardless of sample temperature, making it a reliable tool in laboratories, production, or field applications.
This refractometer uses a yellow LED light, prism, lens, and linear image sensor to detect the refractive index of the sample. The dual-level LCD displays both the measurement and temperature simultaneously, and the device offers quick 1.5-second readings with a minimal 100 μL sample. Additional features include one-point calibration with distilled water, a stainless steel sample well for corrosion resistance, battery life indicator, and IP65-rated ABS casing, making the HI96831 highly durable and user-friendly for routine ethylene glycol analysis.
