Description
The HI3811-100 Reagent Set is designed to replace the original reagents in the HI3811 Alkalinity Test Kit, allowing continuous testing without purchasing a full new kit. For phenolphthalein alkalinity, the sample is titrated with dilute hydrochloric acid to a pH endpoint of approximately 8.3, with phenolphthalein indicator producing a pink color to visually indicate the endpoint. For total alkalinity, the sample is further titrated to pH 4.5 using bromophenol blue indicator, which changes from yellow to blue/green, allowing accurate quantification of total hydroxide, carbonate, and bicarbonate ions.
The volume of titrant required to reach each endpoint is used to calculate the sample’s alkalinity in mg/L CaCO₃. The pre-measured HI3811-100 reagents provide consistent, reliable results for drinking water, wastewater, and industrial water systems. They are simple to use, reduce preparation errors, and extend the useful life of the HI3811 test kit, supporting efficient and cost-effective routine water quality monitoring.
