Description
The Met One 6400 Visibility Sensor is a high-precision instrument designed to measure Optical Meteorological Range (MOR) across a wide visibility span, from as close as 20 feet up to 50 miles (6 m to 80 km). Using established infrared light scatter technology at a nominal 42° angle, the sensor delivers reliable visibility data with ±10% accuracy. Its solid-state infrared LED light source ensures long-term stability and consistent performance, making it suitable for continuous outdoor operation in demanding environments such as transportation, aviation, and meteorological monitoring sites.
Built for durability and flexibility, the 6400 Visibility Sensor features selectable relay thresholds, SPDT relay output, and RS-232C digital communication with baud rates up to 38,400, allowing easy integration into existing monitoring and control systems. The lightweight yet rugged design includes corrosion protection and is rated for harsh environmental conditions, operating from −40°C to +55°C and up to 100% humidity. With optional hood heating for extreme weather and a compact IP66-rated enclosure (pending), the sensor provides dependable, low-maintenance visibility measurement for critical safety and environmental applications.
