Description
Traditional wire-wound rods can suffer from issues such as broken or loose wires, difficult cleaning, and limitations in producing ultra-thin coatings. To overcome these drawbacks, Biuged developed Formed Rods, precision-machined tools that replicate the coating performance of traditional wire bars while offering greater durability and ease of use. Using CNC machining and cold extrusion techniques, the uneven curved surface is formed directly on the rod, achieving uniform film application without the risk of wire damage.
These rods deliver ultra-thin coatings down to 6 µm, making them suitable for high-precision laboratory or industrial applications. They are easy to clean due to their smooth curved surface and offer a longer service life compared to traditional wire rods. Formed Rods are available in two versions: Regular (BGD 214) with a coating width of 200 mm and rod length of 240 mm, and Extended (BGD 215) with a coating width of 300 mm and rod length of 400 mm. Optional holders (BGD 212/Z-001) can be used with the regular rods for more convenient handling. The rods cover a wide range of theoretical wet film thicknesses from 6 µm up to 200 µm, making them extremely versatile for various coating tests.
