Description
Skin pH is influenced by factors such as age, genetics, sweat, and moisture, and naturally ranges from pH 4 to 6. However, prolonged use of alkaline soaps, detergents, and cosmetics can elevate skin pH, potentially leading to irritation or unfavorable skin conditions. The HI99181 is specifically engineered to monitor the biological compatibility between skin and cosmetic or pharmaceutical products. It features a large multi-level LCD display that simultaneously shows pH and temperature readings, along with stability indicators, probe condition status, and battery percentage at startup.
The HI99181 uses the HI14143/50 amplified glass body pH electrode, optimized for surface measurement. Its flat-tip design ensures maximum surface contact with skin for accurate readings. The open junction reference system utilizes a viscolene solid gel electrolyte in direct contact with the skin, preventing clogging and ensuring stable ion flow for reliable measurement. The chemically resistant glass body allows rapid thermal equilibrium, while the built-in temperature sensor provides Automatic Temperature Compensation without requiring a separate probe. This specialized electrode design ensures fast response, stable readings, and long-term reliability in dermatological and cosmetic testing environments.
