Hanna Instruments HI93414-02 Turbidity (EPA) and Chlorine Portable Meter

The HI93414 Turbidity and Chlorine Portable Meter is a high-precision device for measuring turbidity and free/total chlorine in drinking water. Using advanced optical technology with tungsten lamp, 525 nm interference filter, and 25 mm round cuvettes, it minimizes stray light and color interferences for reliable readings. The meter features EPA-compliant measurements, multiple calibration options, and GLP-traceable performance verificationusing AMCO AEPA-1 and CAL Check™ standards. With USB/RS232 connectivity, data logging for 200 readings, and portable battery operation, it is ideal for field and laboratory applications.

  • Three Measurement Modes: Ratio mode for turbidity, free chlorine, and total chlorine
  • High Accuracy & Repeatability: Turbidity ±2% of reading plus 0.02 NTU; chlorine ±0.02 mg/L @ 1.00 mg/L
  • EPA Compliant: Meets EPA Method 180.1 for turbidity and USEPA 330.5 for chlorine
  • Field-Ready: Fast Tracker™ Tag Identification, USB/RS232 data transfer, rugged carrying case

Description

The HI93414 is a portable, multipurpose meter for assessing key drinking water quality parameters, specifically turbidity and free/total chlorine. It uses an advanced optical system combining a tungsten lamp, 525 nm narrow band interference filter, and 25 mm optical cuvettes to minimize stray light, color interferences, and lamp intensity variations. Turbidity measurements are reported in 0.00–1000 NTU, while chlorine measurements range from 0.00–5.00 mg/L. The meter supports normal, continuous, and signal averaging modes, along with EPA-compliant measurement modes for accurate regulatory reporting. Calibration is performed using supplied AMCO AEPA-1 primary turbidity standardsand CAL Check™ chlorine standards, ensuring traceable and reliable results.

The HI93414 is designed for ease of use and field portability. The graphic backlit LCD guides users through measurements and calibrations, while the Fast Tracker™ system enables time- and location-tagged data collection. Up to 200 readings can be stored in internal memory and transferred to a PC via USB or RS232. Its rugged design, optional AC power, or battery operation, and complete GLP functionality make the HI93414 ideal for water treatment facilities, environmental monitoring, and field-based quality assurance tasks.
