Description
The Obsnapmeter Automatic Film Applicators (AFA Series) are precision motorised systems designed for consistent and reproducible coating applications on glass, metal, paper, foil, and other substrates. Featuring digital control of speed, start and stop positions, and stroke length, the unit ensures highly accurate film preparation with a wide speed range of 0–500 mm/s. Selected models are equipped with a built-in silent vacuum pump and perforated or double-channel vacuum beds to securely hold substrates in place, while electronic A4/A3 vacuum area selection eliminates the need for taping holes. The removable vacuum or glass bed allows easy cleaning without tools, and the adjustable tool carrier height accommodates thicker panels up to 35 mm. Extensive safety features, including emergency stop and proximity sensors, ensure compliance with relevant safety standards.
For enhanced functionality, the AFA can be fitted with an optional drying time recorder, digitally adjustable from 1 minute to 48 hours and capable of measuring up to 8 channels in a single run. Heated vacuum bed models allow temperature settings from ambient +5°C to +100°C, ensuring uniform heat distribution and rapid warm-up times. Compatible with standard block applicators (bird/baker type), spiral bar (wire wound rod) coaters, and levelling or sagging testers, the system supports versatile coating methods including wire rod and drawdown blade applications. With a 300 mm application width, stroke range of 50–359 mm, and compact dimensions of 650 × 350 × 240 mm, the AFA Series provides a reliable and efficient solution for laboratories and quality control departments requiring precise film thickness and coating performance evaluation.
