Description
The Met One 034E Wind Speed & Direction Sensor is a robust meteorological instrument designed for accurate, long-term outdoor monitoring. It measures wind speed from 0 to 167 mph (0–75 m/s) with a starting threshold of 0.9 mph and high accuracy: ±0.25 mph for speeds below 22.7 mph and ±1% of true speed above that. Wind direction is measured mechanically over 0–360° and electrically over 0–356°, with a resolution of less than 0.5° and ±3° accuracy. The sensor can operate in extreme temperatures from –30°C to +70°C, with minimal icing conditions, making it suitable for a wide range of outdoor environments.
Physically, the 034E is lightweight (0.81 kg / 1 lb 12.5 oz) with a clear anodized aluminum finish for durability. Wind speed output is via a pulsed contact closure, while wind direction is delivered through a potentiometer output (0–10 KΩ). Its compact design ensures minimal visual impact, and the instrument is built with stainless steel and aluminum for extended field life. Additional features include a low entry threshold, low power consumption, and easy adjustment and maintenance, making it ideal for continuous weather monitoring, environmental research, and integration with air quality and meteorological stations.
