Description
Excess nitrate in saltwater aquariums can lead to the growth of unwanted organisms like algae and dinoflagellates, potentially harming corals and sensitive marine life. The HI782 Nitrate Checker HC allows aquarists to monitor high nitrate levels quickly and accurately. Using the Zinc Reduction method, the reaction between nitrate and the reagent produces a pink color, which the checker measures digitally to provide a precise nitrate reading. With just four simple steps, nitrate levels from 0.0 to 75.0 ppm can be determined with ±2.0 ppm ±5% accuracy.
The HI782 is ideal for saltwater aquariums containing fish or corals that tolerate higher nitrate concentrations. Its LED light source and silicon photocell detector deliver consistent results, while the compact size, digital readout, and automatic shut-off enhance usability. For lower nitrate ranges (0.00–5.00 ppm), the HI781 Low Range Nitrate Checkeris recommended, and for freshwater samples, the HI97728 Nitrate Portable Photometer is advised. The kit includes sample cuvettes, starter reagents for 10 tests, pipette, AAA battery, and instructions for easy setup.
