Description
Our GM-based detectors are perfect for a variety of uses, including surface contamination and sampling as well as individual and environmental monitoring. A scintillation detector is required for correctly quantifying and qualifying the data as well as for identifying contamination in food, soil, and water. With this capability, many scintillation devices may go into the tens of thousands of dollars. These features can be had considerably more cheaply with the GammaPAL.

LLD vs. Sample Time for Background Counts
With a 2×2 sodium iodide scintillation probe, radioactive material in the sample is found using either a 2-inch filter geometry for wipes and air samples or a Marinelli geometry for soil, water, and bulk samples.
The 500ml beaker is set inside a lead shield that is 1 inch thick. The detection limit ranges from 2.5 to 100 Bq/l and is readily able to distinguish between quantities of Iodine 131, Cesium 134, and Cesium 137.
The following items are included in the kit: a URSA-II Multi Channel Analyzer with GammaPAL Software; one 2X2 Nal Detector with C-C cable; a TDS Nomad 900LE with a bar code scanner and serial boot; ten empty screw-top Marinelli beakers; a lead Marinelli shield case; one Marinelli with a K40 reference standard; a 5000g Tempered Digital Scale; a sieve for sample collection.
