Description
The Taber Multi-Finger Scratch / Mar Tester is a precision instrument designed to evaluate the resistance of materials to scratching, marring, gouging, and other surface damage that goes beyond normal wear. It features a pneumatically driven, moveable platform that holds the test specimen and moves linearly for controlled single or multiple pass testing. Five independent spline-shaft fingers apply consistent vertical pressure through interchangeable scratch tips, with each finger capable of being raised or rested when not in use. The included 9-piece weight set allows customization of applied forces from 2N up to 20N, with additional optional weights available for specialized testing needs.
This tester accommodates flat specimens up to 22mm thick, and its free-floating finger arms allow testing of slightly contoured specimens as long as they are adequately supported. A spring-loaded specimen holder and optional hold-down clamps provide flexible mounting, while a protective platform guard ensures the durability of the instrument.
