Description
The HI3896-025 Replacement Reagent Set enables fast and accurate soil analysis by providing pre-measured reagents for nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and pH testing. Nitrogen determination uses the Ned method to measure nitrate-nitrogen (NO₃—N), while phosphorus is measured using the ascorbic acid method to determine phosphorus pentoxide (P₂O₅). Both parameters produce distinct colors that are compared against the provided color cards to categorize nutrient levels as trace, low, medium, or high.
Soil pH is measured using a colorimetric indicator method, suitable for samples within a pH range of 4 to 9. Potassium (K₂O) testing uses the tetraphenylborate turbidimetric method, where turbidity and a blue hue develop when potassium is present. The resulting color is matched to the color card to determine potassium levels. This replacement reagent set ensures continued soil testing efficiency without replacing the entire kit, making it a cost-effective and practical solution for routine soil fertility monitoring.
