Description
Maintaining proper nitrate levels is critical in reef aquariums. Excess nitrate can promote unwanted algae and dinoflagellates, while levels that are too low may cause coral paling and nutrient starvation. The HI781 is specifically engineered for low-level nitrate detection in marine systems, offering superior precision compared to traditional visual test kits. Its narrow range of 0.00 to 5.00 ppm makes it perfect for reef aquariums where even small nitrate fluctuations matter.
The checker operates using a colorimetric reaction that produces a pink/violet tint, measured by a 525 nm LED light source and silicon photocell detector. Designed exclusively for seawater testing, it ensures reliable and repeatable results. For higher nitrate levels (up to 50 ppm), aquarists may consider the HI782 High Range model, while freshwater users are advised to use the HI97728 photometer.
