Description
The Met One Instruments C-12 Portable Carbon Monitor is a compact and reliable solution for measuring black carbon (BC) concentrations in ambient air using proven optical absorption technology at 880 nm, with an optional 370 nm UV channel for enhanced source discrimination. Designed for field deployment, it offers a wide measurement range from 0.01 to 100 µg/m³ with an ultra-fine data resolution of 0.1 ng/m³, enabling detection of very low BC levels. With a low detection limit of ≤70 ng/m³ at a one-minute sample time and a controlled 1.0 LPM sample flow, the C-12 delivers precise and repeatable results suitable for both urban and background monitoring environments.
Built for modern air quality networks, the C-12 provides near real-time cloud communication by transmitting 15 one-minute samples every 15 minutes via the Comet Cloud modem, while also maintaining internal storage for up to 2,816 records as data backup. Its rugged design, simple LED-based user interface, and low power consumption make it easy to deploy on poles or tripods for temporary or long-term studies. Combining affordability with durable, time-tested technology, the Met One C-12 is ideal for research campaigns, community air monitoring, environmental compliance studies, and mobile monitoring applications where granular black carbon data and dependable performance are essential.
