S.E. International- Radiation Alert Frisker Radiation detection for surface inspection.

A handheld surface radiation detector designed for quick inspection and contamination surveys, capable of detecting alpha, beta, and gamma radiation on objects, surfaces, and personnel.

  • Versatile Detection: Detects alpha (≥2 MeV), beta (≥0.16 MeV), and gamma (≥10 keV) radiation.
  • Accurate & Sensitive: Measures dose rates up to 50 mR/h (500 µSv/h) with factory accuracy ±15% (±10% with NIST calibration).
  • User-Friendly Alerts: Features backlit LCD, pulsing beeper, and red LED count light for clear visual/audio feedback.
  • Portable & Long-Lasting: Lightweight (217 g) with AA battery operation (~800 hours) and compact for field use.

Description

The S.E. International Radiation Alert Frisker is a compact, handheld radiation detector designed specifically for surface contamination monitoring. Utilizing a halogen-quenched GM tube with a thin mica window, it is capable of detecting alpha, beta, and gamma radiation, with energy sensitivity down to 2 MeV for alpha, 0.16 MeV for beta, and 10 keV for gamma. It provides dose rate measurements up to 50 mR/h (500 µSv/h) with a factory accuracy of ±15%, or ±10% with optional NIST calibration, and features a backlit LCD display, red LED count indicator, and audible click per count for immediate feedback.

This instrument is powered by two AA batteries, offering approximately 800 hours of operation, and is built for practical field use with a lightweight 217 g frame and ergonomic design. Alerts are provided via a pulsating beeper with adjustable levels, while the overrange feature ensures readings remain accurate in high radiation fields. Common applications include screening personnel, equipment, and packages, performing contamination surveys, gross wipe counting, regulatory inspections, and detecting low-energy radionuclides or naturally occurring radioactive materials (NORM).
