Description
The Met One BC 1060 Portable Black Carbon Monitor is a high-precision instrument designed for real-time black carbon (BC) and ultraviolet particulate matter (UVPM) measurements. It operates on the optical absorption principle with dual channels at 880 nm (BC) and 370 nm (UVPM), offering a measurement range of 0.01 to 100 µg/m³ with data resolution down to 0.1 ng/m³. The monitor supports flexible sampling intervals from 1 to 60 minutes and a sample flow rate of 2 LPM. Its low-level detection allows for measurements as low as 50 ng/m³ over one minute, or 8 ng/m³ over one hour, making it highly sensitive for ambient air monitoring. The instrument includes a 13 W inlet heater and an ambient temperature sensor with solar shielding, ensuring accurate readings under varying environmental conditions.
Built for portability and ease of deployment, the BC 1060 features 4 MB internal memory, multiple data download options (USB flash drive, USB serial, RS-232, and Comet Cloud modem), and a user-friendly menu-driven OLED interface. The unit weighs approximately 35 lbs (18 kg) and can be bench-mounted or free-standing, without requiring a weatherproof enclosure. Additional features include a flow dilution system for high-concentration environments, six-month tape operation at 2 LPM, and compatibility with the CCS COMET Cloud for remote monitoring, making it ideal for field studies, research projects, and mobile air quality assessments.
